Cosmetic packaging, especially skin care packaging, this type of packaging material is divided into glass and plastic, let’s talk about the plastic material, plastic material has many categories, each category can be divided into multiple grades.
Cosmetic packaging materials commonly used in a class is the plastic packaging materials, plastic packaging materials include: PP, PE, PS, PET, PETG, AS, ABS, acrylic and so on.
1. PP Raw Material
PP material is a polymer polypropylene, plastic is a polymer compound, non-toxic, harmless, odorless, relatively good heat resistance, cold resistance is also good, chemical stability is very good, encounter strong acid strong alkali chemical properties are not easy to change.
Features: milky white translucent, lubricated, no slippery feeling; PP bottle is softer than PET, easier to pinch, transparency is worse than PET, so some opaque shampoo bottles are more commonly used (convenient to squeeze up).
PP material coloring is to use the color masterbatch produced by special manufacturers, (a kind of coloring agent, carrier resin, dispersant composed of a very high concentration of color particles) it coloring effect is good, and is in the PP plastic bottle before the production of the color masterbatch directly into the raw material particles to go, after mixing can be normal into the next process, and the products made will have color. (PE bottle coloring is also the same)
2. PE Raw Material
PE: polyethylene, material introduction commonly used in three categories, namely: LDPE HDPE LLDPE. material is basically opaque, the material will be softer, and not so smooth as PET.
Cosmetic applications: hose, lotion bottles, caps, etc.
3. PET Material
PET material is polyethylene terephthalate, belongs to the thermoplastic polyester, the surface is relatively smooth and shiny, can resist friction, and good dimensional stability, high hardness, but not resistant to heat water immersion, nor alkali resistance. The material is environmentally friendly, with high barrier, light weight, non-shattering characteristics, chemical resistance, transparency is very strong, can be made into pearlescent, colored, magnetic white, transparent, widely used in the installation of jelly water.
PET bottle production is injection pull blowing, need to inject the raw material into the bottle embryo, PET bottle color in the production of the embryo to determine the PET bottle embryo and then come to the secondary production, the PET bottle embryo heating with high air pressure blow up molding.
Features: PET has high transparency, the bottle has softness, can pinch concave but harder than PP.
4. PETG Raw Material
PETG is better than PET in terms of transparency, chemical resistance, oil resistance, weathering (yellowing) resistance, etc. PETG is 2-3 times more expensive than PET.
5. AS Raw Material
AS, also known as SAN, styrene acrylonitrile copolymer, has higher impact strength and excellent heat resistance, oil resistance, and chemical resistance than polystyrene (PS). Hardness is not high, more brittle (a crisp sound when tapped), good transparency, can be directly in contact with cosmetics, food, in the ordinary lotion bottles, vacuum bottles are generally the material of the bottle, but also can be made of small capacity cream bottles. Appears transparent. Cream bottle, powder case, eye shadow case.
AS transparency is better than ABS, and better toughness.
6. ABS Raw Material
ABS: belongs to the engineering plastic, not environmentally friendly, high hardness, can not directly contact with cosmetics, food, in the acrylic cosmetic packaging materials are generally the inner cover, and the bottle combination with more. The color is yellowish or milky white.
The focus of attention, if the ABS package will be in direct contact with the material body, please note that the material body must not contain alkane lubricants, because it will lead to ABS non-crystalline area absorption swelling, brittle, cracked.
7. Acrylic Raw Material
Acrylics acrylic: thick and hard, the most like glass is acrylic.
Acrylic material for injection molding bottles, chemical resistance is poor, generally can not be directly filled with cream, need to match the inner liner barrier, filling is not easy too full to prevent the cream into the inner liner and acrylic bottle between, so as not to crack, transportation in the packaging requirements are high, because the scratch looks particularly obvious, high permeability, the sense of the wall is particularly thick, but the price is quite expensive.
